Westpac Altitude Rewards → Velocity Frequent Flyer
This guide covers manual transfers from a personal Altitude Rewards account. A card enrolled in Altitude Velocity earns Velocity Points under its own rules. Check which rewards option appears on your statement before using the conversion below.
Account: Altitude Rewards personal cards; manual transfer. Increment: confirm in your account. Processing: Allow 3 business days. The example uses the standard rate for today. Check the detailed rules and dated examples below before transferring.

Velocity's Westpac page lists Altitude Platinum, Platinum Plus and Black, together with certain Business Gold and Business Platinum cards. The dated change below comes from Westpac's personal-card notice. Business cardholders should confirm their own terms; that personal notice does not establish the future business rate.
With transferable Altitude Rewards, you choose when to convert a bank-points balance. Altitude Velocity is a separate card rewards option. Do not divide points already labelled Velocity by this transfer ratio a second time.
The rate changes on 30 September 2026
Westpac's notice changes personal manual transfers from 3:1 to 4:1. The date applies to converting points, so an existing Altitude balance does not keep the earlier redemption rate indefinitely.
| Transfer date | Altitude Points | Base Velocity Points |
|---|---|---|
| Before 30 September 2026 | 12,000 | 4,000 |
| From 30 September 2026 | 12,000 | 3,000 |
In this example the later conversion yields 1,000 fewer Velocity Points, a 25% reduction. To receive 4,000 Velocity Points at 4:1 you would need 16,000 Altitude Points, one-third more than 12,000. Neither example includes a bonus or represents a confirmed account quote.
A deadline alone is not a reason to move points you cannot use. Compare the likely redemption with the value of retaining other options. The transfer calculator uses dated rates; the points-value guide helps you compare the resulting reward with paying cash.
Minimum, increments and the final quote
The published manual workflow specifies at least 3,000 Altitude Points and subsequent 500-point increments. Its footer also mentions six points, which conflicts with that workflow. The examples here follow the 3,000-point instruction. A 2,500-point request is below that published minimum.
Confirm the amount accepted in your own account and the rounding of the final Velocity total. For example, 3,500 divided by three is not a whole number. Our calculator rounds down to whole Velocity Points; that estimate does not resolve the bank's contradictory wording. The September notice confirms a new ratio but does not settle the later minimum, increments or rounding.
Use a larger, evenly divisible amount only if you actually need that many points. The 12,000-point comparison above avoids fractional rounding at both rates, but the bank must still accept the request.
Transfer through your Westpac account
- Enter Altitude Rewards through the Westpac app or Online Banking. Confirm the balance is Altitude Points.
- Open the points-redemption area and find airline rewards under Altitude Travel. Choose Velocity.
- Enter the source points amount and your Velocity membership number. Register the number before your first redemption if it is not already saved.
- Review the destination total, name and account-specific conditions. Submit only when the amount and recipient are correct, then retain the receipt.
Velocity's instructions require the named member on a joint account to match its first listed owner. Allow three business days for processing.
This is the manual Altitude Rewards path. The public instructions checked for this article do not establish an equivalent automatic-transfer setup for this account. If you want regular Velocity earning, compare the separate rewards choices and fees in the Velocity card guide.
Before you move a balance
Search the whole reward journey for everyone travelling, record the points and cash charges, and allow for the transfer delay. A seat visible today is not reserved while the points travel between accounts. Transfers cannot be reversed.
A conditional bank or airline promotion needs its own check. Westpac is not listed among the participating partners in Velocity's August and September 2026 transfer campaign, so the ANZ promotion should not be applied to this calculation.
For your next step, read the Velocity program guide and compare practical examples in using Velocity Points.
What you can do with Velocity Frequent Flyer points
Search Virgin Australia Reward Seats and eligible partner awards through Velocity’s current booking process. A Singapore Airlines award booked with Velocity and a transfer to KrisFlyer are different options. Do not assume partner bookings are phone-only.
- →Domestic trips that reduce the cash cost of travel you already need.
- →A partner itinerary whose whole-party quote fits your balance and budget.

Frequently asked
- Is Altitude Rewards the same as Altitude Velocity?
- No. Altitude Rewards holds bank points that can be redeemed for rewards, including eligible airline transfers. Altitude Velocity is a separate rewards choice for earning Velocity Points. Use the conditions for the choice on your account.
- Which Westpac transfer rate applies after September 2026?
- Westpac's personal-card notice changes manual transfers from three Altitude Points per Velocity Point to four from 30 September 2026. Check the final quote and any deadline instructions in your account before submitting.
- Why does the page qualify the 3,000-point minimum?
- Velocity's instructions specify a 3,000 Altitude Point minimum and 500-point increments, but a footer on the same public material also mentions six points. Use the displayed transfer workflow and confirm the amount accepted by your account, especially after the announced change.
- How long does the transfer take, and can I reverse it?
- Velocity asks you to allow three business days for Westpac transfers. A completed conversion cannot be reversed. Check award availability and the cash charges before moving a balance.
