Transfers, explained

How do points transfers work?
Flexible bank or financial-rewards points convert into an airline program's own currency at a set ratio — often 1:1, sometimes less. You initiate the transfer from your bank's rewards portal; the points then live in the airline account and can be redeemed for award seats.
Can I transfer airline points back to my bank?
No. Transfers are one-way and can't be reversed. That's why the golden rule is to find and (ideally) hold the award seat first, then transfer only the exact number of points you need.
How long do transfers take?
It varies by program — some post almost instantly, others take a few hours up to several days. Because of that delay, never transfer speculatively against availability you haven't confirmed is bookable.
Should I wait for a transfer bonus?
If you don't have an immediate redemption, often yes. Programs periodically run bonuses (for example +15% to +30%) that boost the points you receive. We only show a bonus once it's officially confirmed.
