Link and verify your everyday accounts
Flybuys' official instructions describe account linking and auto-transfer. The published conversion is 1,000 Flybuys points to 500 Velocity Points. Check the destination account and understand how enabling auto-transfer affects an existing balance.
A supermarket purchase, a Flybuys credit and the eventual Velocity transfer are separate transactions. Keep the receipt until all expected points have posted.
Compare bank transfers in the right units
An eligible rewards card may earn bank points that can be converted to Velocity. Velocity's transfer instructions explain the process by issuer. The ratio, minimum and card edition still need checking.
Use the transfer calculator with your expected transfer date. Announced September and October changes mean a ratio copied from an old article may no longer apply when you redeem.

A spending example
Suppose a hypothetical promotion gives 5,000 extra Velocity Points for a purchase that costs $80 more than an acceptable alternative. The extra points cost 1.6c each. If your likely redemption saves only 1c per point, the cheaper purchase is financially better even though it earns fewer points.
Do not treat recurring bills or business expenses as automatically eligible card spending. Category exclusions and payment surcharges can change the result. Enter the actual fee in your comparison.
Plan the household balance
Use the family and expiry tool before relying on pooling. Pooling rules and transfers of existing points are not interchangeable. An account whose points are redirected still needs attention to its own status and expiry conditions.
For a flight goal, set the complete party target in earn-to-target. Include bonuses only after checking the current offer and required spend, and leave time for points to post before the booking deadline.
