Start with existing spending
Qantas's everyday-shopping directory identifies current earning channels. Look up the specific retailer's conditions before buying: eligible products, tracking requirements, excluded vouchers, returns and posting times can differ.

Measure the extra cost
Suppose a hypothetical online offer awards 2,000 Qantas Points, but the same item costs $35 less elsewhere. You are effectively paying 1.75c per extra point. That may exceed what you would save when redeeming them. Use the points-value tool with your own redemption expectations.
Points earned on spending you would make anyway can be useful. Buying unnecessary goods, paying avoidable interest or losing a large discount changes that calculation.
Keep bonuses conditional
Activate a targeted promotion before spending where its terms require it. Record the dates and eligible transactions. Do not assume a previous promotion repeats or that a pending bonus will arrive before a booking deadline.

Check that points arrive
