Understand Air New Zealand's currency

Compare cash and points
Suppose a hypothetical family cash itinerary costs $2,200. An alternative award costs 140,000 airline points plus $500 cash. It saves $1,700, or about 1.21c per point, before any extra transport. If the award arrives in a different city, add the cost of reaching your actual destination.
Use points value and the hotel optimiser together. For Airpoints, enter the real quote and currency rather than borrowing an airline-mile valuation.
Finish the booking checks
Confirm baggage, cabin and fare flexibility, especially when combining airlines or separate tickets. Compare the full return, not merely a cheap outbound. A program partnership does not automatically make every domestic connection available for points.
