Yes — a card's sign-up bonus is usually the biggest single chunk of points in year one, so it's factored into how quickly you reach your target. Remember bonuses have a minimum-spend requirement within a set window.
Should I spend more to earn points faster?
No. Points are worth only a few cents each, so buying things you don't need to earn them is a guaranteed loss. The smart play is routing spending you'd do anyway — bills, big planned purchases — through the right card.
